To understand the passion of Mechanical Keyboards you have to understand why some people prefer them.
To keep it simple - Do you remember the old typing machines? where you had to press really hard and had a really iconic sound to it.
That's what its all about. To actually get a sound when you press the key and to hear the feeling of each of your strokes on the key cap.
The specifc sound will differ based on the mechanical switch that you have i.e Cherry MX Blue have a really loud sound and are clasified as a tactile switch. You will definetly hear the difference between a person typing on a Tacticle and linear switch (cherry MX Red).
If you are looking for advise on which kind of mechanical keyboard / Mechanical switch that you should buy.
It really comes down to personal preferences . What I can recommend is try some switches and see what your hands tell you.
For the Size of the keyboard it comes down to once again personal preferecens. Are you traveling a lot? Perhaps a 60% or 40% would suite you. are you using the Numpad or Arrow Keys on you keyboard? - TLK or Full size
Do you like to be able to customize all your keys? - Various Mechanical Keyboards allow it but from a personal preferences i would go with either 60% or 40%.
